McHugh Furnishings is proud to announce that the Freeport High School Science Laboratory Renovation has been recognized as an Outstanding Design in the 2026 American School & University (AS&U) Educational Interiors Showcase.
Selected as one of just 54 projects recognized nationwide—and one of only four in the Laboratories category—the project will be featured in the August 2026 Educational Interiors Showcase issue.
McHugh Furnishings was honored to serve as the furnishings dealer for this award-winning project, collaborating with Freeport Union Free School District, H2M architects + engineers, and our manufacturer partner, Waldner Group, to help create six modern, flexible science laboratories designed to inspire hands-on learning and scientific discovery.
The newly renovated laboratories feature adaptable learning environments with mobile furnishings, portable sinks, chemically resistant finishes, and advanced overhead service systems that provide power, gas, water, data, liquid waste, and exhaust directly to student workstations. Each classroom accommodates up to 25 students and is supported by dedicated prep rooms, storage areas, and a research laboratory featuring an ISO 7 Clean Room, creating college-level learning environments that promote collaboration, flexibility, and safety.
